In class we had to finish up the benchmark because it was the last day to do it. If you hadn’t answered the questions you had to take an educational guess so that you had enough time to finish up the argument essay which was question 20

Today in class we were given a vocabulary book and we had to write down the fifteen vocabulary that was in pages 5 and 6. Once we finished writing them down we put them into our binders to keep. We then had to write a unique sentence for each word as well as answer exercise 1 that was on page 7. The exercise had 3 parts to it and we had to only write the correct order the words went in. Then once we finished with all that we had to write our blogs

In the beginning of class we took down some notes on how to format an argument essay. It has to have a total of 8 sentences which include the introduction which will be the attention getter, introduces the topic and thesis statement, then the body paragraph which includes the claim, two evidence explaining how that evidence supports the claim, then finally the conclusion which will restate the thesis statement and sums up the entire paper. Once we finished taking those notes we had to finish up the rest of the benchmark that we weren’t able to complete on Monday as well as fully finishing up the 20th question

Today In class we had to take out our Chromebooks because we were going to take a benchmark test that had 20 questions. There were 2 passages to read with the first one having 6 questions then the second one having 13 questions as well as a 20nd question that was an essay which we’ll be doing tomorrow. The passages that would help us answer the 19 questions were short ones and didn’t take long to read but we ended up not having enough time to finish up all 19. So we had to pause our test and wait till tomorrow to finish them all up.

Today in class we defined what evidence was and the definition was that it comes from your readings, your experiences or your observations. Then we were shown a form of the way to discredit evidence by showing how a person can get away with murder if the evidence is strong enough and that can’t be proven wrong

In class we went onto illuminate for an assignment on logos, pathos and ethos. We were shown videos and pictures and were told to determine whether it was logos, pathos, or ethos and give an explanation on why that was the correct answer as well as give as tell who the targeted audience was. In total we did 9 of them together

Today In class we took notes about what an argument is. We learned that an argument is an opinion(claim) which is supported by evidence but doesn’t have to be persuasive but can be implicitly persuasive. As well that anything can be an argument such as why earth is round and not flat. In addition, an argument includes three elements which are the speaker, the purpose and the audience, as well as rhetoric which is the art of arguing effectively. A rhetoric can also be a rhetorical triangle which is a relationship between logos, ethos and pathos which all also help an argument be a better claim.

Today in class we walked into class and had a sub her name was mrs. Williams and she handed us a paper which was our work. On the paper had the directions that we had to follow which were to take out a piece of paper, write the correct heading, and answer the questions on that paper. The work sheet had 20 sentences in which we had to pick out the correct vocabulary that we were given which were 10 of them and we were to use each twice.

In class we walked in and sat down and were told about the test that we would be taking. It had 19 questions with 4 poems that we had to analyze in order to answer the questions. Before we could start we had a fire drill which lasted 10 minutes which made our time lower. Once we got back into class we were all given different letters either A, B, or C and then given a code to get into our specific test. Before we could finish the bell rang so our tests were all paused and told that we would be able to finish it Monday.

Today in class we would get a code to log into illuminate.online and then we analyzed quotes from Emily Dickinson’ poems. The first one was on time and eternity and how we’re always living in the present and not living it to our fullest like it’s our last, then the 2nd one is about life and experiences, not taking for granted all our experiences because it could be our only and last time to happen. The theme for the poem was to live your life to the fullest. After we analyzed the two quotes, we got to choose three other quotes to analyze ourselves and the ones I chose were “Not knowing when dawn will come, I open every door”, “Faith is a fine invention”, and the last one was “Success is counted sweetest, by those who ne’er succeed”.

Today in class we turned in our one pagers and a few of the students would present their one pagers to the rest of the class. One students one pager was on the poem called “Before I got my eyes put out” and it was about this person who had lost their vision and they start to recount all of the things that they used to be able to see. They would describe the sunrise as the mornings amber road, they would also say how they wish they could regain their vision again so they could see all those nice things again. After the students had presented we all retook the origin myth quiz so we could get a better grade than we had gotten from the last one. The new origin myth quiz had 6 questions and a new story
